Setup

  1. 1Open Cursor Settings → Models → API Keys.
  2. 2Enter your UltraGPT key in OpenAI API Key, turn on Override OpenAI Base URL and set it to https://api.ultragpt.pro/v1. Click Verify.
  3. 3Under Models, click Add model, type claude-opus-4.8 and enable it. Turn off the built-in models you will not use, so Cursor does not send them to UltraGPT.

Good to know

  • Custom keys need a paid Cursor plan (Pro or higher).
  • The base-URL override is global: while it is on, Cursor's own built-in models may stop working. Turn it off to go back.
  • Only chat uses your key reliably; Tab completion, inline edit and some agent features always run on Cursor's own backend.
Tips
  • Any model id from Models works; suffixes like :online (web search) and :nitro work too.
  • Give each tool its own key with a spend limit, so usage shows separately in Activity.
